Effect of Pesticides on Shrimp

This study investigated whether pesticides used in agriculture have negative effects on aquatic organisms. Researchers exposed marine planktonic shrimp to soil from pineapple farms and lettuce fields, which were then used to create runoff by simulating rainwater. The shrimp were exposed to this water for 48 hours to see if there were any effects on their survival. The study found that shrimp exposed to the runoff water had a higher mortality rate, suggesting that pesticides from agriculture can have harmful effects on aquatic organisms.
